\u00a0A smoother\u00a0module for stepper driver motor is an add-on module for of 3D Printers. It is useful for a softer movement in Delta Style as when using DVR8825 or step and drives and A4988\/2 driver unit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

TL smoothers are popular little printed circuit boards (PCBs) that\u00a0are often used in\u00a0FDM\u00a03D printers to not surprisingly, smooth out the look of prints. In other words, they reduce surface artifacts caused by\u00a0irregular stepper motor motion,\u00a0often dubbed \u0093zebra stripes,\u0094 \u0093salmon skin,\u0094 etc.\u00a0These smoothers are often sold as 4- and 8-diode variants, with the 8-diode ones (pictured above) offering a stronger smoothing effect.<\/span><\/p>\n

They plug into any 3D printer between the\u00a0stepper drivers\u00a0and the\u00a0stepper motors, working their electrical \u0093magic\u0094 without any other setup needed. Their low cost, plug-and-play functionality, and seemingly magical effect have made them quite beloved, albeit slightly controversial.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The board provides flyback diodes (freewheeling diodes) for the motor outputs so that they are\u00a0also protected against induction voltages in the unpowered state of the driver. You will get smoother movement.<\/span><\/div>\n
