It’s widely used in cable and wire harnessing, strain relief, insulation, colour coding, identification, and protection.

Simply put, it’s a great way to make a flexible, heat resistant, and watertight tight joint. Simply place a slightly larger tube in the desired location and apply heat for about 10 seconds with a cigarette lighter or a heat gun, and the tube will shrink down and tightly hold the joint.
